Simple New York Style Cheesecake

Sometimes it’s good to have an old standby – a traditional favorite that is simple and can be dressed up or dressed down and be delicious either way.  Enter my New York Style Cheesecake.

I made this particular cake for our dear art teacher’s baby shower (honestly, we have ‘normal cake’ all the time for various events that sometimes it’s nice to switch it up!  You’ll see that I dressed this up with some baby decor and blueberries – hello!  She’s have a boy!!

Ingredient list:

1 ½ Cup Graham Cracker crumbs

4 Tablespoons Butter

approximately 1 cup sugar (divided)

2 8 ounce packages of cream cheese

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 ½ teaspoon vanilla (divided)

2 eggs (divided)

1 cup sour cream

1 ½ Cup Ground Graham Crackers

4 Tablespoons Butter

4 Tablespoons Sugar

Mix all ingredients together and press mixture into a springform pan (no need to bake prior to putting cheesecake batter in)

2 8 ounce packages of softened cream cheese

½ cup sugar

1 tablespoon  fresh lemon juice

½ vanilla

Blend ingredients together using mixer

2 eggs (whites and yokes divided)

Add yokes one at a time to the cream cheese mixture,  beating well after each addition

Beat egg whites until stiff white peaks form; fold into mixture by hand

Pour over crumb crust

Bake at 300 degress F for 50 minutes

I cup Thick Sour Cream

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 tablespoons sugar

Mix all ingredients together and spread over the cake (after having baked it for 50 minutes) and bake for another 10 minutes.

The top will be tacky and appear to not be done – it is!  Remove from the oven  and cool on a rack for 1 hour before refrigerating.

Serve when cool
