Hawaiian Home Wrecker Cookies

Since I first made a batch of the original Home Wrecker Cookies (can be found here) I have made them a lot for different occasions. Later tonight I am leaving for New England to spend some time with my friend Amanda’s family.  I thought these might be a nice hostess gift, but her mom is sensitive to regular chocolate so I had to tweak a little.  Since she is okay with white chocolate, I thought these might be nice….


And here is the recipe….


½ cup rolled old fashioned oats

2 ¼ cup flour

1 ½  teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

1 cup butter (2 sticks) softened

¾ cup brown sugar packed

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 ½ teaspoon vanilla

½ teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

2 eggs

3 cups white chocolate chips

1 ½ cups chopped macadamia nuts


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees


Use a food processor to grind the old fashioned oats until fine


Combine the old fashioned oats with the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a medium bowl


Cream together the butter, sugars, vanilla, and lemon juice


Add the eggs, one at a time, until smooth


Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and blend well


Add the chocolate chips and macadamia nuts by hand until well combined


Refrigerate for approximately 6 hours or overnight

Spoon rounded ¼ cup portions on to an ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart (I like the roll them into balls)


Bake for approximately 17 minutes until the cookies are light brown or soft in the middle


When cooled store them in a sealed container to keep fresh
