Home Wrecker Cookies

These cookies are AWESOME!  I’m not gonna lie.  You will love them, so will your friends and family.  I made them for a guy that took me on a date once and I continued to hear from him – was it my witty charm or these cookies?  I don’t know, but I know the cookies didn’t hurt!

Trust me!  Follow these ingredients to the letter and you’ll have some awesome cookies that will be the hit of your party

½ cup rolled old fashioned oats

2 ¼ cup flour

1 ½  teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

1 cup butter (2 sticks) softened

¾ cup brown sugar packed

¾ cup granulated sugar

1 ½ teaspoon vanilla

½ teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

2 eggs

3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 ½ cups chopped walnuts

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

Use a food processor to grind the old fashioned oats until fine

Combine the old fashioned oats with the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a medium bowl

Cream together the butter, sugars, vanilla, and lemon juice

Add the eggs, one at a time, until smooth

Add the dry mixture to the wet mixture and blend well

Add the chocolate chips and walnuts by hand until well combined

Refrigerate for approximately 6 hours or overnight

Spoon rounded ¼ cup portions on to an ungreased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart (I like the roll them into balls)

Bake for approximately 17 minutes until the cookies are light brown or soft in the middle

When cooled store them in a sealed container to keep fresh

A cute way to store and gift your gourmet treats
